final portfolio

Your final portfolio should be a functional and durable presentation of your work, and should contain the following items:


4 writings on assigned texts, 100 [note: This is a change from 10 writings specified on syllabus]

  • 1-2 printed pages on each of our four assigned books (Chromophobia, Yingelishi, The Present Order, Lines)
  • title each short paper
  • use quotation and citation
  • format papers consistently, and use page numbers
  • you may use your in-class blue book writings as a source
  • blue books should be turned in with final portfolio

  • include clean, revised final copy of your research paper
3 creative projects, 100

  • documentation of your color, sound, and dynamics projects
  • specify title, media, site, and author(s) of each
  • include a brief critique of each piece
  • include audio / visual documentation as appropriate. e.g., photographs, video or audio files, etc

  • document your final project (as above, with creative projects)
  • specify title, media, site, and author(s) 
  • include a critique of this final piece, in relation to your work in the course as a whole

  • think carefully about the most effective form for your final portfolio of work (is it functional? is it durable? does the form fulfill its purpose?)
  • the final portfolio should be designed specifically for the purpose of effectively presenting and documenting your work in this course for the instructor and current students in the class, for students in a future iteration of the class, and for members of the RISD faculty, student body, and community
  • portfolios which can function outside the 13-week parameters of our class will be particularly valued
self-evaluation of work
  • include a 1-page sheet evaluating your work in the course, specifying your assessment of each of the elements listed here (4 writings on assigned books; research paper; 3 creative projects + final project; final portfolio as effective form)
